Born in Jersey City, New Jersey in 1967, Chris Kappmeier displayed a creative curiosity from an extremely young age. This passion has persisted, evident in his wildly vibrant and playful landscape paintings. Kappmeier‘ s development is greatly influenced by his post-graduate travels throughout Italy and England. His style is dominated by the cityscapes and landscapes that burst from his canvasses, emitting an authenticity all their own. His work is post-impressionist, with Van Gogh and Monet touches sprinkled throughout yet completely reimagined. It is the very juxtaposition between city life and the beauty found within every nook that creates the construct for Kappmeier ‘s tiny expressionistic specs that explode onto his pictorial surfaces. A Newark School of Fine & Industrial Arts graduate, Chris studied figure drawing with Professor Peter Schneck, and he apprenticed in Syracusa, Italy with Professor James McGinley. His first solo exhibition took place at the Hoboken Historical Museum in 2006. Subsequently, he has sold his work with a local art frame gallery in Hoboken, and has been featured at the Morris Museum, Mondo Contemporary and the Ezair Gallery.
